Welcome

You have found the site for The Randonneurs Road Club
We are a group of road cyclists who meet regularly to enjoy road cycling and one another's company.

Some, not all, are retired, but we are mostly over 50.

We cycle for pleasure, we may have raced in the past, but no longer.

What, when where?

We meet every Wednesday and Sunday.

We meet under the clock tower in Coggeshall, Essex, at 09.00.

We cycle all year round except when there is ice on the roads.

Where do we go? How far, how fast?

We are blessed in North Essex by having almost unlimited miles of leafy lanes stretching up into Suffolk across to Herts and South and East to the Essex coastline.

We usually cycle 35 to 50 miles, sometimes more but always stop for tea or coffee somewhere nice. We have a list of almost 30 local cafes. That gives plenty of choice and a wide variety of routes.

We divide into two groups, the A team cycle faster and usually cover longer distances. The B team make a more leisurely pace, take a more direct route and we try to meet up at the same cafe destination.

The A team average14 to 17 mph.

The B team average 10 to 13 mph.

You are welcome to join us on any of our rides, just turn up, introduce yourself and join in. After 4 rides we will ask you to become a member. There is a modest annual fee, and this also joins you to the CTC with their third party insurance scheme.

Two happy Randonneurs
